Features of Path of Exile: Delirium
Path of Exile: Delirium is already available on PC and PS4. As with most leagues, this league comes with a new league mechanic, new skills, items, and game mechanics. Also, in the "Delirium" league, players will uncover nightmares that reward amazing loot if you can surpass their challenging modifiers. To get ready for this massive league, here are some features you need to know about the Path of Exile Delirium league.
The Mirror of Delirium
Players will find mirrors scattered among every zone in Wraeclast. Activating these mirrors will shroud the zone in fog, revealing terrifying demons with powerful modifiers.
These enemies are some of the toughest enemies in the Path of Exile, including savage talents and other prefixes and suffixes based on their rarity. Every zone in the game will have these zones, meaning that veteran players can experience the league while leveling to give themselves a massive challenge, while newer players can simply choose to skip it until they feel ready at endgame.
Orbs Of Delirium
To make the league scale well with the endgame, Orbs of Delirium are special rewards players can earn this league to spice up their maps with powerful loot bonuses.
These orbs work as implicit for maps, modifying them to reward extra loot while making the map permanently affected by Delirium. Currency, Uniques, Fossils, Maps, and even older league mechanics like Essences can be rewarded from these orbs, should you choose to apply them on your maps.
An Ever-Expanding Skill Tree
Jewels are special items that players can socket into their passive skill tree for extra bonuses. While that is nothing new, passive skill jewels are.
These jewels are rewarded from successfully completing Delirium encounters, capable of adding new passives in your tree to spec into. These can range from extra life nodes to entirely new notables to shift the way your character functions. With over 280 new notables tied to this system, there is a significant amount of experimentation that players can choose to pursue.
These can be acquired from any monster in the Delirium League and are sure to make a massive impact on the game.
New Skills
Blade Blast is a skill that detonates blades on the ground, which can be created by the likes of Blade Cortex or Ethereal Knives. These blades can also be used to create Animated Weapons for boss fights.
Wands have an overhauled Kinetic Bolt, bouncing randomly and forking every time it hits a target.
The final skill shown is Stormbrand, creating runes around you as you channel that can siphon your mana to detonate with great effect.
New Items
There are also new items being added, including new Divination Cards and Unique Items that will further promote new and unique build opportunities. Perfidy, a Glorious Plate piece of armor, will promote the use of two different Banners at the same time, with buffs to both War Banner and Dread Banner.
New Notables
Since the passive tree is seeing some expansion thanks to the new jewels, there are New Notables available for players to experiment with. One of the new notables shown is called Hollow Palm Technique, which grants a massive 60% more attack speed rating while counting you as dual-wielding.
The Fog
As a visual representation of the effects of Delirium, the flowing fog simply looks fantastic. It makes the world feel like it's shifting and obscures the ground just enough that you might not be sure if you just saw that giant, glaring eyeball emerging from the dirt or not.
The Monsters
Besides new monsters springing up while you travel through the fog, the monsters that were already there may behave… differently. And by 'differently', I mean they may tear themselves in half and have a terrifying entity emerge and attack you, before retreating back into the original monster's body. Or maybe you just imagined it.
The Simulacrum
Like most leagues in the Path of Exile, this league contains a meta progression system that gives massive rewards if you can overcome the challenge.
In Delirium, every encounter you complete will drop splinters that can be combined to craft a unique map. This map is called The Simulacrum, which will teleport players to a difficult encounter that will shower you with loot upon completion. If leagues like Legion or Breach are anything to go by, Simulacrum missions will give massive rewards.
Delirium Supporter Packs
As always, the Path of Exile remains free-to-play with the option to spend some money to show support to the developer. Delirium will feather two sets of Supporter Packs this time around, with the Darkseer and Fateweaver Packs. Both base packs cost $30 USD and include 250 points, a title, weapon effect, cloak, portrait frame, and the Delirium League Extended Digital Soundtrack. The Elite Fateweaver and Darkseer Packs offer similar items for $60, including more points and upgrade cosmetics.
Endgame Changes
Many Path of Exile fans has complained that the Conquerers of the Atlas expansion was too confusing and encouraged players not to complete maps for optimal Atlas bonuses. This is being addressed in "Delirium."
Returning vendor recipes should allow players to undo progression on their Atlas to target-farm items they wish. Conquerers are now deterministic when it comes to spawning, making progression through the Atlas much easier. Vaal side areas and the Temple of Atzoatl are also receiving some much-needed attention to keep them up to date with modern mechanics and systems.
